There are times in life when things appear more to be falling apart than falling into place. Here’s what to do when things aren’t working.
What to Do When Things Aren’t Working
If something in your life isn’t working, the first step is to recognize what it is that isn’t working. If you already know, that’s great! But if you’re not sure, or if things are just generally messy, try to look at different areas of your life to pinpoint where the problems are.
You might look at some areas like these:
You could even give each area a score out of 1-10 so you can see what in your life you need to focus more time on.
Once you’ve figured out what’s not working, or if you already know what the problem is, then you can set out to improve the situation. Think about this quote:
“If the wind will not serve, take to the oars.” – Latin Proverb
So if you’re trying to make something happen or reach a goal and things just aren’t working, is there another strategy you can try? Is there another way to look at this problem? Or is this even the right problem that you want to be solving?
Sometimes when an obstacle or setback comes up, it’s a good time to take a look at the current situation and evaluate what’s working, what’s not working, and whether or not this is really the goal we want to be working toward. You need to know what you’re trying to accomplish if you want to accomplish it. 😃
Maybe things seem like they aren’t working, but you realize you haven’t set any specific goals, so you wouldn’t really know if the right things were working anyway. Figure out what your end point is and then work backwards to come up with the steps you need to make progress, and then take small steps every day.
You can’t know if things are working unless you know what you’re working toward. 🙂
You can do this.
