8 Best Essential Oils for Depression and Anxiety
There are a LOT of essential oil varieties out there, but I chose these particular ones not only for their help with feelings of depression and anxiety, but also because these ones are fairly common, less expensive, and readily accessible. There are other popular essential oils for anxiety or depression like frankincense, bergamot, rose oil, and more, but they can be more expensive or more difficult to find.
You can add essential oils to your life through aromatherapy like diffusing them in an essential oil diffuser or applying them topically to your skin when mixed with a carrier oil like coconut oil or almond oil in a rollerball or small container. Most of them should NOT be applied directly to skin without being mixed with a carrier oil because they are very strong and concentrated, and they should not be ingested internally.
You can also add them in other ways around your home like adding a few drops to a cotton ball and leaving it at the bottom of a trash can or in a cabinet to freshen the smell.
Personally, I have a small bin full of various essential oils at this point, including tea tree oil, lavender oil, geranium oil, orange oil (not orange juice ;)), peppermint oil (not peppermint extract ;)), and some natural body products made with jasmine, lavender, or sage essential oils. I use a few different brands bought from Amazon and Whole Foods and they all seem to be fine.
